Ingredient guide

Cosmetic ingredients that really work! Which ingredient pampers dry skin, which is effective for aging skin, and which, in turn, is a fantastic skin brightener? A look at the ingredients in the jar, the inci list, reveals a lot about the product's effectiveness!

We have compiled a short guide to skincare ingredients that the beauty world can't stop talking about. Retinol, Vitamin C, PDRN or forest microbe: do you know what they do and who they are suitable for? Learn more and find the right products for your skincare routine.

Retinol is an anti-aging classic that also treats acne

Retinol is a superior anti-aging ingredient with decades of use. This vitamin A derivative helps with issues like wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and excessive sebum production. There are many forms of retinoids, but they all share the ability to activate collagen production, brighten, and firm the skin.

Start using retinol gradually with a milder concentration, and remember to use sun protection during the day, as retinol makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight.

A more natural alternative to retinol is bakuchiol, which has similar effects to retinol. If your skin is sensitive, bakuchiol might be a better choice than true retinol.

Vitamin C brightens and evens out skin tone

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is beneficial for skin with uneven tone, signs of aging, or marks left by blemishes. This super vitamin is an effective brightener that evens out skin tone, improves collagen synthesis, and balances sebum production. Vitamin C is suitable for almost all skin types, but those with sensitive skin should start using it gradually.

Acting as an antioxidant, vitamin C is popular in summer skincare because it helps neutralize damage caused by UV rays. However, it does not replace sunscreen, but works as an effective partner to it!

Tip: Use vitamin C serum under sunscreen to get both antioxidant and UV protection benefits in your skincare routine.

PDRN is a rising moisturizing and firming ingredient

PDRN, what is it? Popular in Korean cosmetics, PDRN is an ingredient extracted from salmon DNA, and its name comes from the word polydeoxyribonucleotide.

PDRN's effect is above all skin-renewing, firming, and moisturizing. The ingredient activates skin cells responsible for collagen production. In practice, this means that PDRN can diminish signs of aging, keeping the skin supple and radiant. Suitable for many skin types, PDRN is particularly beneficial for mature and dry skin.

Niacinamide is a super ingredient for many skin problems

Niacinamide, or water-soluble vitamin B3, is a true all-rounder in skincare! Among other things, it helps to control sebum production, lighten pigmentation and acne scars, soothe redness, smooth fine lines, and maintain the skin's moisture balance.

Best of all, niacinamide can be easily combined with other active ingredients in both morning and evening skincare routines. This well-tolerated ingredient can be used on adult, sensitive, and inflamed skin.

Hyaluronic acid guards skin moisture

Hyaluronic acid is a familiar sight in many skincare products. Its main function is simple yet important: to prevent moisture loss. And it excels at this, as it can bind many times its weight in moisture.

Hyaluronic acid delivers quick results: fine lines are smoothed, skin softens, evens out, and feels plumper. Hyaluronic acid is especially welcome for dry, tired, and tight skin. This ingredient, suitable for many skin types, is not an actual acid, but a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body.

Tip: A serum containing hyaluronic acid is a quick and effective way to moisturize the skin!

Domestic forest microbial extract supports the skin's own protective barrier

A forest bath in your own bathroom? The Finnish innovation Re-Connecting Nature® extract brings the benefits of the forest directly to skincare, as the ingredient consists of a forest extract containing beneficial bacteria.

The scientifically proven effective forest microbe extract strengthens and balances the skin's protective barrier, boosts collagen production, and soothes redness and irritation.

Especially if your skin is dry, atopic, or easily reactive, the forest microbe extract can work wonders!
